Russian cell operators to protect clients from spam in cyberattacks
MOSCOW, Dec 2 (PRIME) -- Russia’s biggest mobile operators are ready to protect subscribers from fraud and bulk mailouts, spokespeople for the companies said Friday.
“We have special systems to resist spam, and we’re monitoring the situation,” Dmitry Solodovnikov, a spokesperson for MTS, said.
The Federal Security Service said on its Web site that foreign special services are preparing large-scale cyberattacks against the Russian financial system, including its biggest banks, starting from December 5.
The attacks could be accompanied with provocative multiple SMS and posts in social networks about crises and bankruptcies of banks. The service is taking measures to neutralize the threat.
“MegaFon applies a program to protect clients from fraud and massive unsanctioned SMS mailouts,” head of the operator’s press office Yulia Dorokhina said.
VimpelCom, known under the Beeline brand, uses a whole range of advanced systems against fraud and spam. “We’re following the situation,” the operator’s press secretary Anna Aybasheva said.
